The Dangerous One, released in 2022, is a powerful 13-track project, weaving together themes of spirituality, mindset transformation, meditation, and the complex dance between ego and growth. It explores love, belief, patience, and rebirth, diving deeply into societal issues like knife and gun crime, PTSD, systemic racism, and inequality. Driven by the energy of drill and rap instrumentation, the project taps into “hood” realities while aiming to empower and uplift the culture with its reflective yet hard-hitting sound.
In essence, The Dangerous One is a journey of spiritual awakening, offering a unique glimpse into Parris’s mind as he embarks on a path to challenge the status quo. The mission—dangerous in its intention to shift perspectives—is ultimately to “Shiff Up the Frequency” and inspire today’s youth. At its core, this project is about finding “ALITY” (A Litty Space)—a space of light, truth, and connection. This space exists where reality, personality, and spirituality intersect, inviting listeners to disconnect from external pressures, reconnect with their higher selves, and discover the insight needed to elevate and evolve in their own lives.
Parris Wright's The Isolated One (2019) project dives deep into the artist's journey of self-discovery and introspection. The project begins with a soothing meditation track, where Parris explores themes of growth, evolution, and the importance of solitude in his life. He reflects on feeling different and his mission to help others see the good in humanity, all while emphasizing the power of love over hate. As the project progresses, listeners are treated to a diverse mix of hard-hitting hip-hop and trap beats, demonstrating Parris's versatility as an artist. Tracks like "Buss Up The Whine" bring a lively dancehall vibe, while "Freedom Over Money" delivers powerful messages about prioritizing personal freedom and the well-being of the community over material wealth.
Throughout The Isolated One, Parris Wright addresses the struggles faced by his generation, often using vivid imagery and relatable narratives to connect with his audience. In tracks like "2019 Freestyle," he showcases his lyrical prowess and wordplay, while "Top Boy" reflects his ambitions within the UK music scene. The project captures the duality of Parris's experiences, balancing moments of reflection with high-energy tracks that encourage listeners to celebrate life. Ultimately, The Isolated One represents a transformative process that Parris navigated physically, spiritually, and creatively, highlighting his evolution as an artist and individual through this powerful collection of music.
Parris Wright’s Rebirth EP (2018) is a powerful exploration of self-awareness, resilience, and cultural pride, painting vivid pictures of life’s challenges and triumphs. Through "Rebirth," Parris delves into personal growth, examining his journey toward spiritual alignment and self-acceptance. His introspective verses celebrate a shift from societal distractions to a path of purpose and grounding, acknowledging his roots while striving for higher consciousness. "Family Settings" continues this journey, paying homage to the love, unity, and heritage passed down through generations. The track radiates appreciation for family bonds and Jamaican culture, symbolizing the strength he draws from his lineage.
In "How We Gonna Win," Parris speaks candidly about the cycle of violence, systemic challenges, and lost potential in communities like his. The track is a powerful call to break free from inherited struggles, uniting with purpose over division and realizing shared aspirations. Together, these songs reveal Rebirth as more than an EP—it's a journey of personal evolution, cultural pride, and a vision for change.
